After being met outside the cruise terminal by Olga,our guide for the day we took a bus into St Petersburg then boarded a Hydrofoil to Peterhof. I was blown away by the absolute beauty of this place. The Peterhof Palace is a series of palaces and gardens located in Peterhof, Saint Petersburg, Russia, commissioned by Peter the Great as a direct response to the Palace of Versailles by Louis XIV of France. We also visited Tsarina Anne's Palace where we had to wear paper covers over our shoes so as not to damage the parquetry flooring. Anne had TB and this is where she came to recuperate and recovered and went on to have 9 children!!!!She had an amazing copper bathing area and shower room.
